Configured Order Fulfillment is the process of turning a sold configuration into a complete, manufacturing-ready order. Tacton COF ensures that every configured order includes accurate manufacturing BOMs, routing, and documentation, so production teams can execute without manual rework or uncertainty.    Unlike traditional order processing, COF keeps sales, engineering, and production aligned, even when orders change. 
Tacton COF can apply factory-specific structures, components, sourcing rules, routings, documentation, and production requirements to each configured order.  This allows manufacturers to reuse common manufacturing knowledge while accounting for how different sites fulfill the same product configuration. 
ERP and MES systems manage the transactions, planning, and execution required to run production. Tacton COF provides the manufacturing configuration intelligence needed to translate approved configurations into manufacturing-specific Bills of Material before they enter those systems.  COF generates structured mBOMs, routings, documentation, and manufacturing order data for use in downstream ERP and MES processes. 
COF is used by manufacturing operations, production planning, supply chain, and order fulfillment teams. It also supports engineering and finance by ensuring orders are accurate, manufacturable, and margin-protected before production begins. 
Configured Order Fulfillment works directly with Tacton CPQ to ensure that what is quoted can be executed.  CPQ validates the configuration during the sales process. COF then transforms that validated configuration into manufacturing-ready outputs, including order-specific BOMs and production data. This creates a seamless and automated flow from quote to production. 
Configuration Lifecycle Management defines what can be built and how products evolve over time. Configured Order Fulfillment uses that governed configurability to generate accurate, build-ready orders. Together, CLM ensures engineering intent is preserved, while COF ensures that intent is executed correctly on the shop floor. 
Yes. Configured Order Fulfillment can be purchased on its own. However, manufacturers see the greatest impact when COF is connected with Tacton CPQ and Configuration Lifecycle Management.  On its own, COF improves order accuracy and execution. When combined with CPQ and CLM, it becomes part of a single digital thread where what is sold, what is defined, and what is delivered are always aligned. This removes manual translation, reduces rework, and protects margins across the entire lifecycle.  Many customers start with one capability and expand over time. The platform is designed to grow with you, but it delivers the strongest results when used as a connected suite. 
When used in conjunction with Tacton Configuration Lifecycle Management, which governs configuration changes and revisions, Tacton COF provides visibility into how changes affect manufacturing models, configured orders, mBOMs, and related production outputs.  Teams can assess downstream impacts before updated information moves into ERP, MES, or production processes.
