2026 Industrial Buyer Expectations Report
The industry has spent years optimizing for faster quotes and easier self-service buying. Buyers are telling a different story. Forty-three percent said fewer disruptions from late or incorrect deliveries matters more to them than a faster quote or a lower price. Speed isn’t what’s winning deals anymore.
The sharper number is what buyers have done about it. Twenty-one percent now budget for cost overruns as standard practice, building the expectation of a wrong quote into their own numbers before the order even goes in. Only 27% say their quotes and invoices consistently match, and 39% still need to call a sales rep to answer a basic configuration question. Buyers haven’t just noticed the unreliability. They’ve planned around it.
In this report, you’ll discover:
- What today’s buyer expectations mean for your operating model, not just your sales pitch
- Why reliability beats speed and cost as the outcome buyers care about most
- Where pricing transparency has become a dealbreaker, not just a nice-to-have
- The information gaps still forcing buyers to pick up the phone instead of self-serving
- What it takes to build AI tools buyers actually trust
- Why no single person owns the buying decision anymore, and what that means for how you sell
