What is the difference between engineered-to-order (ETO) and configuration-to-order (CTO)?

ETO involves designing and manufacturing products from scratch based on a customer’s unique specifications. Conversely, CTO draws from a set of pre-designed components that can be mixed and matched to meet a customer’s requirements. ETO is ideal for complex, custom-built solutions, while CTO is suited for faster delivery of semi-custom products.
